I’m a sucker for oh-so-arty films and films that look sexy but have nothing of significance to actually say. Style over substance is often a great way forward. That brings me onto 21 year old Xavier Dolan, he seems way promising. He’s a french-hipster (Fripster?) with two acclaimed features out. He’s aces! His films are pretty, his influences are spot-on and he has more Youtube videos of self-indulgent musings than even CopperCab.
Best of all, he voices Stan in the french-dubbed South Park. Top that bitches! I’ve actually seen his first film, awesomely titled I Killed My Mother, (It had substance!) His new’un, Heartbeats, looks vaguer, but watch this trailer and tell me this guy’s not got it.
