Grovesnor is a difficult guy to figure out. On the one hand he looks like a disgraced geography teacher but he also plays the drums for Hot Chip. Similarly, his solo work is the softest soft rock imaginable, then he goes and churns out great eclectic mixes that seamlessly blend Kanye West, Tom Tom Club and Ricardo Villalobos. Some of you might think that sounds like a terrible prospect, but the results are always entertaining and his mixes are staples in the Platform office.
He first caught my attention with two ace mixes for Allez Allez (find them here and here). Then there was also this one for Proper Songs. Most recently he complied this little number for Self Titled, listen and download below.
The video is quite embarrassing/awful but serves to reminds me why I hate people like M.I.A, Yo Majesty and Uffie. The tune will no doubt be a club “banger” and like Wile Out, will be played so many times your brainbox will seep out of your bleeding ears all over your new Topshop plimsolls. Suck off, just kidding. I really like it.
Remember this? That’s the memory Hard Mix are seemingly conjuring here. God knows how that made it’s way to South Carolina. No wonder the banks are on the upturn.
Not content with taking all of our parents’ money, city boy charlatans have embedded images of strangely androgynous topless young boys into our impressionable minds, while they sip oceans of champagne through cocaine smiles. Fucking mind control.
Somewhere, Derren Brown is wanking himself into oblivion.
