This band called Tubelord, who I’ve otherwise never heard of, had a good idea for making their new single ‘Propeller’ into something special.
They ordered 500 blank 7” sleeves for the vinyl, split them up, re-packaged them and shipped them out to various artists and illustrators from around the world, all of whom were hand-picked by the band. Each of the 500 sleeves then got returned back to sender with drawings on. Last night they had loads of them up at the Lock Tavern where they played an acoustic set, and I stopped by to take some photos of the best ones, they had them all up like bunting and it seemed like a real celebration. If everyone did this then maybe people would get into the idea of owning something unique and stop using Hype Machine.

There’s a blog dedicated to the progress of this project here, and the video for the track is pretty illustration-heavy too… Directed and animated by Nicos Livesey.
