Meyhem Lauren

Meyhem Lauren is another Q Borough cat seriously shacking shit up at the moment and making me feel thankful that perhaps Odd Future and the rest of this hipster hop stuff  (although they are fucking dope) is not the only thing the future of underground hip hop has to hold for us.

Part of The Outdoorsmen crew and strongly affiliated with Lo-Lifes, Meyhem is all about that proper New York get money, punch you in the face rap which you don’t find enough of these days (or any that’s any good anyway) and seems to be part of this new wave of really good, really real New York rappers which is something that has been greatly missed in the past, say, decade.

He’s brought out a few releases already such as a collaboration album with J-Love called “Acknowledge Greatness” and his mix tape “Clarified Butter” which are also fucking wicked but no way near on the same level as the new L.P. “Self Induced Illness”.

41 tracks of intelligent hoodlum QU street shit featuring some of the illest cats around at the moment like Platform favourites Action Bronson and Roc Marciano, amongst a whole bunch of others.

The production is handled by about 12 different producers including J-Love and PF Cutting (who produces a lot of Action’s stuff) and is all super tight and filled with lots of that old Boom Bap and screechy samples.

One of my favourite albums of the year so far easily so go grab dat shit.
