Hippies and environmentalists are always complaining about how people these days are too removed from the food they eat. ‘It’s unnatural man, shame on you’, they would say between tokes. ‘If you had to kill what you ate you wouldn’t survive, dude’. Well that may be true. But there’s a reason agriculture and farming has been industrialised. It’s so people don’t have to spend all their time tilling the land and struggling for survival. Instead they can be accountants and advertising executives and eat M&S ready meals for sustenance. It’s also why machines like this exist in all their beautiful and terrible efficiency.
