Acid washed – general motors, detroit, america

I like my recording artists to come with a side order of mystery. Last month Elizabeth wrote about Silver Columns, the as yet anonymous Bronski Beat sound-a-likes, and today I’m writing about an equally mysterious Parisian duo Acid Washed.

Although their identity is unknown the signs of greatness are there for all to see. As well as being signed to Record Makers (the home of AIR and Sébastien Tellier) their mysapce boasts an impressive list of freinds and collaborators including Christian Kreuz (Get Physical/Dakar), Christophe Chassol (Phoenix/Sebastien Tellier collaborator), and DFA artists Xaver Naudascher & Gavin Russom.

That’s more recording talent than you can (rhythmically) shake a stick at, and it’s no wonder that people are getting pretty excited about Acid Washed. It’s also helpful that the music is really really good. General Motors, Detroit, America is a sprawling cosmic disco tune that brings to mind a whole bunch of DFA remixes and Giorgio Moroder tracks. Listen for yourself…

Plus, here’s a remix of fellow Record Makers artists and Eurovision star Sébastien Tellier.
